A night for all members of St Paul’s to discuss the life of our church. Our Annual General Meeting is a significant event for the church. It’s when our Ministry team, the Wardens and Treasurer give reports and election of office bearers takes place.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO VOTE?

From the Diocese:

“Under rules 4.2(1) and 4.2(2) of Schedule 1 of the Parish Administration Ordinance 2008, a person cannot take part in or be counted for the purposes of a quorum at the annual general meeting of parishioners of a church unless the person has first subscribed the following declarations –

“I am a member of the Anglican Church of Australia.
I have been baptised.
I am not less than 18 years of age.
I have usually during 3 months within the past 12 months attended services of public worship at St Paul’s Castle Hill or as part of an associated congregation of that church.
I do not claim to be a parishioner of any other church or parish of the Anglican Church of Australia.“I have not voted at a general meeting of parishioners of any other church or parish of the Anglican Church of Australia within the past 3 months and I do not intend to vote at a general meeting of parishioners of any other church of the Anglican Church of Australia within the next 3 months.”

WHAT HAPPENS AT AN AGM?

We first receive any apologies for those who are unable to attend.

You can register an apology > HERE

We begin the meeting with an opportunity to review the past 12 months and share about the future. Reports have been prepared by our Ministry Leaders. A copy of these reports can be downloaded below.

Elections take place

We encourage all church members to consider serving in the below roles. Read on to find out what is expected of each role, and please contact us in the office on 8858 1111 or email info@stpauls.church if you have any questions about the role. For anyone serving as a Parish Councilor or Warden, you must be able to commit to one monthly meeting, held on the third Tuesday night of each month. You will also be placed on a rotating roster to complete lock up procedures each Sunday. Read what is expected for lock-up >> HERE

HOW DO NOMINATIONS WORK?

Nominations for all of the above roles take place on the night of the AGM. You may not nominate yourself. A person may not be nominated unless he or she has consented verbally or in writing to the nominator or another person at the meeting. A person nominated need not be present at the meeting. A person making a nomination must be present at the meeting. So, if you would like to nominate someone for any of these roles, please have a conversation with them and get their consent (written preferred) before bringing their name forward at the meeting. It is also important to note that existing church members serving in these roles do not automatically get nominated to serve for another year. They must be re-nominated at the meeting.

Recommendations

Recommendations related to the business of the church can be made by members of the church for consideration by Parish Council.

We then close the night in prayer!

I HAVE QUESTIONS I WOULD LIKE TO ASK AT THE AGM

One way you can help us to prepare for the AGM is to submit your questions to our staff team before the night. These can be emailed to admin@stpauls.church.

Some questions have already been sent in to our staff team. Answers can be found >> HERE

We will of course also take questions on the night at the conclusion of each presentation (financial reports, budget etc).
