- Christmas at St Paul's
December 24, 2018 - December 25, 2018
2:30 pm - 12:00 pm
Family Services – 4pm and 6pm
Evening Services – 8pm and 10pm
Traditional Service – 7:30am
Family Service – 9:30am
WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT AT THE DIFFERENT SERVICES?
Our CHRISTMAS EVE 4pm and 6pm services are designed for families with children. We will celebrate Christmas by singing well-loved carols and having fun family activities during the service, as we remember why Jesus was born. We will hear from the bible and have it explained in a way that children will understand, and have a time of prayer. Both our 4pm and 6pm services will be identical, so you can choose the time that best suits your family!
Our CHRISTMAS EVE 8pm and 10pm services are contemporary in style. Our live worship band will lead us in modern carol arrangements, and our services will use videos and creative items to help us connect with the message of Christmas.
On CHRISTMAS DAY we will start our morning with a Traditional Prayer Book service at 7:30am, and then continue celebrating Christmas with our 9:30am service, which will be ideal for the whole family to come to.
WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE CHRISTMAS FAIR?
There is nothing better than connecting with family and friends at Christmas, and we want to make sure you have somewhere comfortable and fun to do that as you visit church! Before each service on Christmas Eve we will have food trucks, some fun activities for kids, beautiful Christmas lights and some music – bring a picnic rug and enjoy some casual vibes before heading in to the service. Our fair will kick off at 2:30pm and finish up before our 10pm service.
HOW DO I GET THERE AND WHERE DO I PARK?
St Paul’s is located at 421 Old Northern Rd in Castle Hill, in-between Oakhill College and the Anglicare Retirement Village. We have plenty of parking available including wheelchair friendly spots. When you drive in the driveway our friendly parking team will greet you and assist you to find a spot.
If you are traveling by public transport please visit https://transportnsw.info/ to look up bus timetables from your area.
WHERE DO I TAKE MY CHILDREN?
During all of our Christmas services, the kids are in church with us, there is no separate children’s program running.
Our main church auditorium also has a Toddler’s Room (full of toys and books) as well as a fully equipped private Feeding Room for those with nursing babies.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
When you visit a church for the first time it can be intimidating – we hope that this is not your experience of St Paul’s and that you feel welcome and at home as you join us at one of our services.
On arriving at St Paul’s after finding a parking spot, you will walk up to our main entrance and be greeted by our welcoming team (they will be wearing a lanyard so you know who they are). They will say hi, and help you to find a seat inside our auditorium. If you have any questions at all, about the service or facilities (like “where is the bathroom?!”) they will be more than happy to show you around. Don’t be shy to ask if you are not sure about something!
Our service will go for just over 1 hr. We will open by singing a few carols together, then our service leader will welcome you. We will have a time of prayer, and then a reading from the Bible. One of our Ministers will then share a message from the passage that has been read out. We finish our service with more singing and an offertory collection (there is no pressure at all to give during this time, if you are a visitor please feel free to let the bag pass you by). After the service our Pastoral team would love to chat to you if you have any questions about the service, something you have heard about Jesus, or if you simply want to find out more. Head up the back to our Welcome Desk and you can grab a newcomers gift which has some info about our church and activities we run, as well as a copy of one of our CityAlight albums. Our Malacci’s cafe is open so you can enjoy a hot beverage before heading home (and hopefully coming back to visit with us again!)
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We would suggest getting here at least 15-20 minutes early for our Christmas services as it can be a busy time. If you arrive early for the fair you will find parking a little easier! We especially want you to find a seat where you are most comfortable, and you’ll feel more comfortable in the room if you have a few minutes to adjust before the service begins.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Something you already own and that you feel comfortable in! There is no formal dress code at St Paul’s, no need to feel like you have to dress up – but you of course can put on your Sunday best if that is what you are happiest in! Most of our congregation wear smart casual attire, think what you would wear to a weekend BBQ with friends.
WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?
We believe in God the Father, creator of heaven and earth; Jesus Christ the Son of God; and the Holy Spirit. Gen1:1; Matt 28:19
We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried and, in body, rose again on the third day. 1 Cor 15:1-4
We believe that God loved the world so much that he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross to save us from our sins so that if we believe in him we may have eternal life with him. John 3:16
We believe the only way to have an eternal relationship with God is through Jesus. Jesus said “I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
We believe that the Bible (the Old and New Testament) is the ultimate rule and standard of faith given by the inspiration of God and containing all things necessary for salvation.
