Disability Inclusion Project

Our project focuses on improving the independence, functioning and well-being of people with disabilities by improving access to health and rehabilitation services using a Community Based Inclusive Development approach. We will do this by training community health workers who will provide rehabilitation in villages as well as improving the knowledge and skills of the physiotherapists in the province. As a wholistic project, we will be empowering people with disabilities with their families to make decisions about their care, and use grassroots training and locally sourced assistive devices to help people with disabilities do the things they need and want to do.

We will also provide community education on health and disability prevention, make the health facilities in the target area accessible for people with disabilities, train health workers in disability inclusion and establish self help groups that will empower people with disabilities to support others in their own community in practical ways.
